Review of Allen ward written by a patient
18th July 2017

The staff treated me with genuine compassion, like I was a person and not just a patient with a mental illness. They were hugely comforting, helpful and supportive, and listened. They encouraged me to get support from my family and tell them where I was without pressuring me. I am really grateful that there was so many staff members who I could talk to openly about faith and who were able to support me spiritually as well (probably without them even realising)

More freedom. Prison or Vaughan Thomas ward is the same. The patient has the right to go to church.

More recently, my care level improved drastically. I am now allowed to lose weight and the condition of admission and release are a lot fairer. To live in a mind house on my own is exciting and I am happy with my care plan. When well again(feeling confident and enthusiastic) I am allowed to go home. Many thanks.

I was on level 3 obs throughout my admission so always had someone to talk to, which helped a lot. Other patients said they found it more difficult to access staff. The staff seemed extremely busy - staff shortage. But I was given lots of time and good care. I'm very grateful Perhaps you could cheer up the garden - patients without leave could help. It's very frustrating if you can't go outside. You helped me a great deal again. Thank you very much
